Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are turn-based role-playing games representing the ninth generation of mainline Pokemon titles. They were announced on "Pokemon Day" in February 2022 as the first open-world Pokemon games and featuring new starter Pokemon Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly.

Story, characters, and setting

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet feature three new starters. Sprigatito is the "capricious, attention-seeking Grass Cat Pokémon" with the ability Overgrow. Fuecoco is the "laid-back Fire Croc Pokémon that does things at its own pace," which has the ability Ablaze. Quaxly is the "earnest and tidy Duckling Pokémon", a water-type with the ability Torrent.

Development and pre-release

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet were revealed with an announcement trailer on Pokemon Day on 27th February, 2022. The games were touted as the first open-world Pokemon adventures, with launch planned for late 2022.
